ACADEMIC POLICIES

The School Year

H4TN academic year runs from September to the end of May and is divided into three 10-week quarters. Full-time day students can complete the program of study for graduation in two school years, provided they take all the day classes offered. Part-time students will graduate upon completion of all required courses. Part-time students may register for any class offered, as it is being offered.

The Weekly Schedule

MORNINGS: Monday: 9:00 - 12:00, Tuesday to Friday: 8:15 - Noon
EVENINGS: (evening schedules may vary according to need)

Class Attendance and Requirements

A student taking 17 credits per quarter will be considered full time, 12 credits for subjects, 3 credits for Spiritual Emphasis and 2 credits for chapel.

Students may take classes for credit or may audit classes. Credit students must fulfill all class requirements and take all exams. Audit students attend classes but do not submit assignments or take exams. Classes at H4TN are both academic and Spirit Filled fellowship around the Word of God and the study material. Therefore, class attendance is very important. Instructors may reduce course grades for absences or set a maximum number of absences allowed to still receive a passing grade.

Grading

Grades for classes are for the express purpose of giving an indication to the students and the teachers on how well they are doing in that class. They also give some measure of accountability and some way for other ministries and institutions to evaluate our students and school. The following grading system is used:

Grading symbols utilized are as follows

A - excellent work of outstanding quality

B - good work above minimal acceptability

C - acceptable work that meets minimal standards

D - work that barely meets minimal standards

F - failure to complete minimal work, no credit given

P - passing, credit given but no grade point value

I - incomplete course work, grade still pending

W - withdrew

WP - withdrew, passing after drop deadline

WF - withdrew, failing after drop deadline

NG - grade report delayed due to extenuating circumstances

Course Extensions and Incompletes

If a student is unable to complete course work by the end of a quarter, the student must inform the instructor before the final exam or final class. The instructor at their discretion may allow additional time with a due date and will submit a grade of “incomplete” until the due date or they issue a final grade.

Transfer of Credit

Students may transfer credits from other institutions or Bible Schools toward graduation from H4TN. The student must submit transcripts and/or evidence of work done to the Academic Dean for evaluation. No more than one-half of the course load necessary for graduation from H4TN may be transferred.

Credits from other Bible Training Institutes may be applied where they are applicable. Credits with an Institutes transcript will be transferred at the cost of $10.00 per credit.

*When credits are sought for courses (without transcripts), classes or life experiences, they shall be evaluated and if applicable charged $20.00 per credit and put into H4TN transcript.

Independent Study

A student may complete some course requirements through an independent study program under the supervision of a H4TN course instructor. Arrangements must be made through the Academic Dean and the instructor in advance of beginning the study. Some courses do not lend themselves to independent study and must be taken in class. A maximum of four such courses may be taken toward graduation requirements.

Academic Progress

It is expected that students maintain an average grade of C (2.0 G.P.V.) for all of their subjects. A student whose average goes below this level or who does not meet “Course Extension and Incompletes” requirements will be placed on academic probation and will be ineligible for scholarship aid.

Under Academic Probation, full time students will be granted one quarter to raise their grade average to a 2.0 or to have made significant progress, as determined by the Academic Dean, toward doing so.

Should a student not make satisfactory progress during the probationary quarter the student’s enrollment will be interrupted for a minimum of one quarter. The Director and the Academic Dean will advise the student as to a course of action, and may allow re-enrollment the following quarter.

A student not making minimum academic progress requirement may elect to attend classes on an audit basis.

Graduation

Students nearing graduation, completion of their studies, must submit a Graduation Form to the Bible School Office the quarter before their anticipated final quarter of classes. Assessment will be made to make sure all requirements have been met and all fees paid. Actual graduation is dependent upon having met all requirements successfully. A Graduation ceremony will be held at the end of the spring quarter each year.
